Alison Prosser

Alison has over 25 years’ experience working across a broad spectrum of Senior Human Resource roles and disciplines within the IT, music, retail, and professional services sectors.

Alison began her career at EDS-Scicon supporting the graduate recruitment and benefits team before moving to EMI Music where she held a variety of successive roles over a period of 14 years. Alison started in the international division in a generalist role with specific responsibility for expatriate management before then having the opportunity to move to EMI Music Australia where, working as part of the local management team, was responsible for establishing the Human Resources function, policies and processes.
On returning to the UK, she took on a central role working for the Europe, Middle East and Africa business supporting the implementation of HR strategy across the region, with specific responsibility for HR service delivery in Eastern Europe, Middle East, Turkey, African and Benelux.

After a sabbatical of a year, which including volunteering for Plan International in Bolivia, Alison rejoined the EMI International team, which at the time operated across 41 countries, during a period of significant change in the music industry. Whilst continuing in an HR generalist role the main focus initially was on learning and development and talent management including responsibility for the implementation of EMI Music International’s first future leader programme aimed at building a talent pool of executives skilled for the future, and a marketing capability improvement programme involving over 340 participants from across the region. After EMI Music was acquired by the private equity company Terra Firma Alison’s main responsibility was to deliver on the restructure and reorganisation of the business.

Alison took the opportunity to leave the music industry at this point and after a brief career break, including gaining her ski instructors qualification, teaching skiing for a season and working in Uganda, Alison then held several roles in the retail sector for Diesel UK and the Shop Direct Group.

More recently Alison has worked for Control Risks, a global specialist risk consultancy. Again, Alison has held a variety of roles within the Global HR function, all contributing too, and supporting the delivery of the global HR strategy and priorities, working closely with senior leadership and the partner group globally. Key areas of responsibility during this time have included leading the global talent team with responsibility for all key talent management and talent development activities, implementation of a career framework to ensure global alignment on expectations and career paths, a review of the performance management approach for partners and the set-up of the partner appointment committee ensuring fair assessment of succession into the partner group.

Alison has a Batchelor of Science degree from Leeds University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management (CIPD).
