Support Kerry’s 24hr 100k walk for vital hospice care
Hi I’m Kerry Jarred, founder of Jarred Consulting and this breakfast bite is a little different as it’s a personal note from me.
I want to tell you about how I’m joining a fabulous group of clinical nurses and other employees at Woking and Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing to walk 100km continuously, through the night to raise vital funds for our hospice. We expect to be on our feet for about 24 hours, starting at 7am on Saturday 14th September.Going the extra mile to provide compassionate careAs a Trustee for the Hospice, I know first-hand how important our work is for the communities we support. Time and time again, many individuals and their families are enveloped by our hospice hearts, and are impeccably cared for during their most testing days. Our care is holistic because the illness and death of someone you love can have a profound and lasting impact. We are here to provide family, friends and carers with support, comfort and advice at every stage of your loved one’s illness and after their death. Why you’re support is vitalFrom our nurses and therapists both in our Hospice and those caring for people with deteriorating health in their own homes; to our employees and volunteers in our shops and warehouse; our fundraisers and of course those supporting the running of day-to-day operations; the care we provide is truly a team effort. We care for over 2000 patients every year within the communities of North West Surrey, including Weybridge, Merrow, East Horsely, Ashford, Lightwater, Chobham, Egham, Virginia Water, Knaphill, Walton, Bagshot, Kingfield, Horsell and Woking. We rely on the compassion and generosity of caring people like you to enable us to provide specialist palliative support at no cost to our patients or their families.Only a small percentage of our funding comes from the government, and therefore we rely heavily on voluntary income to raise the £9 million needed every year to provide our services. It is a sad certainty that one day you or someone you know may need to call upon hospice care. We are living through tough economic times, and as a charity need your support now more than ever to help us, to continue to help others. What you can doWe have been training for just over 8 months now, and as we fast approach the ultra-challenge, our team spirit is only growing. Please, whatever you can give will be gratefully received and it only takes a moment.
