What sits in the gap between good intentions and good practice? People who feel demotivated, forgotten and unseen.
For example, 70% of businesses in one survey celebrated mental health wellbeing days but only 36% of their employees thought their workplace mental health support was good or outstanding.
It’s not that employers don’t want to get it right
The shifts of the past years have been difficult enough to navigate on their own without the added demands of remote and hybrid working common these days.
We believe that leadership matters. In particular, the way we think and behave can have a profound impact on the wellbeing of our teams.
Model healthy behaviours
Whilst remote working allows a great deal of flexibility and eases the demands of commuting and caring responsibilities it may come with its own burdens. When everyone is working at different times, it may be tempting to work too many hours without the usual 9-5 structure to rely on.
How good are you at closing your laptop and walking away? How do you manage the workloads of others? How well attuned are you to your mental and physical health?
How happy are you to be vulnerable, admit that you don’t have all the answers and recognise that you need a break?
Never underestimate the power of your behavioural changes. What cultural evolution could you kickstart in your organisation today?
Have a great day.
